02.01.10. - 3kStatic Remixes Vile Evils and PWEI

3kStatic is currently remixing 'Axe of Men 2010' by Pop Will Eat Itself. The track, originally composed and newly recorded by Vile Evils and PWEI member Graham Crabb, will be released in conjunction with the Vile Evils single 'Demon (feat. Clint Mansell)'. The 'Demon' / 'Axe of Men 2010' Remix EP is also slated to include the '3kStatic SpaceDub Mix' of 'Demon'. The Remix EP will be released March 2, and also includes remixes from Warp Records co-founder Robert Gordon and others

----

Heavily influenced by the sound, fury and Dada-inspired artistic sensibilities and cut-up techniques of electronica pioneers such as Cabaret Voltaire, Tackhead and Meat Beat Manifesto, 3kStatic is an electronica collective founded in 1999.

Having recorded for the Sony, dPulse Recordings, Cargo Records Germany and INgrooves labels (with additional remix releases on the Nightshade Music, Televisionary and Sick Watona labels); solo releases by members of 3kStatic have also been released on System Recordings, Miniistry of Sound and many more.

3kStatic releases on dPulse Recordings are distributed by INgrooves / UMG, Synergy Distribution, AWAL (UK) and Neo (Sony Music Entertainment Germany / Cargo Records Germany).

Early in the evolution of digital music, 3kStatic logged more than 225,000 downloads on the former MP3.com, and were named 2003 Artist of the Year by the Mixdown, a weekly broadcast of Vanderbilt University radio station WRVU FM (Nashville, Tennessee).
The group's recorded output has been featured on the past several seasons on the soundtrack of MTV's Real World and Road Rules, and has also being licensed for various television commercials and independent films. Notable licensees of the band's music include Pontiac, Hypnotiq Vodka, PHisoderm, The Cleveland Clinic, Edmunds.com and many others.

In addition to the ardently activist statements that have become a centerpiece of the band's output, the band has been said to fuse an "eclectic, Dadaist soundscape" into their sound, which incorporates elements of art rock, trip hop, funk and house into an often densely produced collage reminiscent of Dada art. Due to this clash of sounds and activist stance, their work has been described as "anarchist disco" and "post-industrial house"

3kStatic

Although their recordings could be considered album-oriented electronica, their college and independent radio singles include 'Drumbeat Litany', 'All The Way Alive', 'Brutal Realities', 'Shattered' and 'The Music' - which charted #1 on various underground dance charts in late 2004. Among many others, additional charting tracks include 'Second Coming (Create Their Own Past)', 'Brilliant Disguise' and the (2007 remaster) of 'End of The Reel' which features Drumfire of Om Records artists Afro-Mystik.

In 2006, the band embarked on a more vigorous series of live dates, appearing at the legendary New York rock venue The Knitting Factory, electronic music festival events in Michigan and Tennessee and many others. Members of the band also began hosting and programming the weekly electronic music broadcast CounterprogamFM airing on The Electric Circus program of the Columbus, Ohio-based radio network RadioU.

The dPulse label released a digital 'best of' compilation titled Other Ideals: (The Best of 3kStatic 1999-2007). The compilation spans the first eight years of the band's releases, and follows up the band's 2006 release Where's Our Piece of the Groovy World?' which charted in the Top 25 on the iTunes Music Store in Europe for ten consecutive weeks, including #1 (Dance) on the iTunes (Spain) chart. That album includes guests artists Joy Askew, Annette Strean of Venus Hum, Pete Miser, Robert Bond and funk legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee George Clinton.

On its own, the Other Ideals: compilation went on to chart Top 5 at the eMusic download service, and became the band's first entry on the iTunes Japan Top 100 Album Sales chart. 3kStatic regularly appears on the Top Artists charts at Rhapsody, where 'Voodoo Science' climbed to #10 on the album sales charts in the Industrial/Dance and IDM/Leftfield genres.

The band's Europe-only CD album release The Great Republic (Cargo Records Germany) was selected as one of the label's Top 10 releases of 2006, and a recent single was selected for inclusion on the 'Songs of The Times' website curated by protest rock legend Neil Young.

Following their 2006 double album Where's Our Piece of the Groovy World? - which was a GRAMMY® Award candidate in the 'Best Electronic/Dance Album' category - 3kStatic released the digital album Voodoo Science featuring guests artists including members, former members, live players and producers of Petra, Pop Will Eat Itself, Public Enemy, Skinny Puppy, The Orchestra / ELO Part II, Thompson Twins, Cabaret Voltaire, Hula and others.

During the recording of Voodoo Science, the band announced the addition of producer Kerwin Young to its collective of artists. A member of Public Enemy's Bomb Squad production team, Young produced numerous entries in the Public Enemy catalog. He also produced albums for Professor Griff, who appears on Voodoo Science.

Sony Creative Software released the latest 3kStatic studio album Evolver on February 17, 2009. The album is the first-ever Sony release of a full original album with a complete sound library of each album track.

'Projected Tones', the first single from Evolver, will be released on the Nightshade Limited label March 27, 2009. The single features remixes from Aaron Lee, Kris B v. Nosmo and others.

Additional singles from
Evolver include Sugar Evolver (feat. Kevin Max) - released 07.21; So What Now, New Soul? (releasing 08.25) and Warkrmnl (releasing 09.01).

SELECTED REVIEWS:

The Daily Vault (Vish Iyer)

Where's Our Piece Of The Groovy World? is a 22-song double-disc offering by 3K Static that offers almost everything modern dance music has to offer, thus lying in the fringe between frivolous club music and moody rock-influenced experimental electronic music.

Revolt Magazine (Tim Bennett)

Owning this album is more like owning a painting or a piece of art than a typical album. There are many different angles to see it from; strictly musically, artistically, a political statement, or simply as a huge blanket of sound to fill the background of parties, dinners and long drives. A major bonus is that unlike some other bands in this genre, 3kStatic performs regularly, and with dates across the US and Europe in small intimate venues, it could make for an intense experience.

Aiding & Abetting (Issue #276)

...the classy and creative arrangements here are hard to resist. Put a little thought into your next trip to the club.

Exclusive Magazine (Russell Trunk)

In a music culture often dominated by the nameless, faceless legions of acts in search of the "Next Big Hit" - but with nothing in particular to say - comes Where's Our Piece of the Groovy World?, the brand new double album from dPulse Recordings/INgrooves/Neo artists 3kStatic. Featuring nearly two dozen guest artists, remix producers and collaborators from across the music spectrum - and drawing on the influence of Dadaist art and electronic music pioneers like Cabaret Voltaire, Meat Beat Manifesto and Tackhead - Where's Our Piece of the Groovy World? is anything but typical radio fare.

Incorporating organic elements of funk, house, trip-hop and orchestral rock, 3kStatic follows up the success of the 2004-2005 discs Perversion: For Profit (digital sales over 11,000 units), The Great Republic and Cut Up // Liberate (featuring original album art by Richard H. Kirk) with a definitive 22-track statement that reasserts the message - and the means to put that message across.
