SONY FEED / EVOLVER: Evolution: a process of
formation and growth; a pattern formed by a series
of movements. In music, it describes the process of
creative reinvention, which is why we've titled
this library Evolver: Distinctive
Electronica. From nomadic techno excursions
and house music bangers to glitch guitar serenades
and crunk ruminations, Evolver opens wormholes to
electronica's storied past and gives fresh clues to
lead you into its possible futures. Souled-out
six-strings wail, 808s bounce, synthesizers attack
from all angles, and bass bubbles up from the
underworld in these ten explosive construction
kits.. Eclectic eccentrics 3kStatic are joined here
by a host of guest musicians, including Kevin Max
(DC Talk), David Manion (Kansas), and Robert Bond
(Liberty Horses). As an added bonus, Evolver
features a companion audio CD with song versions of
each royalty-free construction
kit.

11.01.09: 3KSTATIC: NOT ART OUT NOW @ DPULSE
STORE
Following
up the 2009 Sony release Evolver, the new
3kStatic digital-only release Not Art is
released today, exclusively via the dPulse
Recordings Online Store.
Including a collection of both all-new tracks and
alternate versions initially recorded during the
Evolver sessions, Not Art is
assembled loosely as a concept album that presents
the band's recognition of the influence of Dadaist
art on earlier electronic music. Not Art opens with four new tracks that
evoke an early 90s-period retro/house approach,
interspersed with spoken word samples.
The net result is not typical dance music, but
rather a soundtrack to the band's underlying vibe -
and a departure of sorts from their recent and more
accessible output.
One notable exception is 'Identity Thieves', which
employs crunchingly atmospheric guitars from Nerd
Parade's Randy Garcia in an otherwise otherworldly
stew of tribal downtempo elements and shimmering
jazz house keys.
The album is available in DRM-free hi-fidelity
320kbps mp3 format and is priced at $8.99.

EVILS TEAM UP FOR NEW ALBUM
Releasing late 2009, the forthcoming debut
album Vive Le Vile Evil marks the return of
Pop Will Eat Itself members Graham Crabb and
Adam Mole as Vile Evils, who (sometimes
assisted by Poppies drummer Fuzz Townsend), picked
up the spirit of
PWEI after
a planned renuion of the band didn't come about.
Continuing the trademark PWEI approach - but
updated and perhaps even 'tougher' than the sound
that spawned numerous UK chart busters, including
'X, Y and Zee', 'Def Cone One',
'Can U Dig It?' and many more, Vive Le Vile
Evil is set to include album versions of tracks
released as digital singles in 2008, plus an
impressive assortment of new material. The release
will be supported by a small UK tour.
3kStatic will assist in the production of Vive
Le Vile Evil, having collaborated with Vile
Evils on the singles 'Council Housed and Violent
/ F*cking & Fighting' and 'The Way I
Feel Inside (feat. The Zombies'.
